Demon Hunters RPG: A Comedy of Terrors

Created by Dead Gentlemen Productions

An irreverent RPG where you and your misfit crew of Demon Hunters must save the world from the forces of Evil. Yeah, we're screwed...

Latest Updates from Our Project:

What's left? The Hell have we been doing anyway?
over 7 years ago – Fri, Nov 04, 2016 at 10:37:19 PM

How's everyone doing? It's been a while. Since like July. A lot of things have happened since then, yeah? How are your games going?

First, I just want to personally apologize for how long it's taking the fulfill the rest of what we promised. Primarily:

  • The Player's Guide PDF
  • The Adventure PDF
  • The Backer Videos (Dear Sally and Monster Vids)

A couple of you I still owe art prints and Sally prints. And of course, any of you who had rewards related to the comic, well we're at the whim of whenever those bozos get back up and running. Good news is, I hear that Honeycutt is nearing the end of his backlog.

Not being in the publishing business first and foremost, I just didn't anticipate how long it would take a few things. I definitely learned that we over-promised a bit. But, I'm committed to fulfilling those promises, even if it is late.

Player's Guide & Adventure PDF

In the past two weeks I've worked with people's schedules and got The Player's Guide and The Adventure PDF back on track. Jimmy's currently tackling the latter, and Cam will be tackling the former just after the election. Good news is, MOST of both of these have a lot done already.

The Player's Guide: Will contain a new set of tables for randomly generating your Concept Aspect. Cam has also written up some further tips on how to write aspects. You also get further info on Ciphers and The Warehouse! Here's a sample from Jimmy's section on Ciphers:

Information has always been the Demon Hunter’s greatest weapon. Sure, everybody knows how to handle the classics: stake a vamp, silver a werewolf, unbrain a zombie. But the weirder stuff requires research. And that leads us to the one question we get more than any other:

Why the #$%&*@ robot?

We hear it all the time. It’s the 21st century and you’ve got a touchscreen supercomputer in your pocket! Why should you have to lug around a half-ton of automaton when you can access the sum total of accumulated human knowledge without even getting off the toilet? Look, we get it. Ciphers are kind of a bummer to be around, but they’re not there to entertain you. They’re there to keep you alive, and the way they do it is a bit more complicated than a lousy Wikipedia search. Let’s take a step back and have a look at what a Hunter’s life was like before Ciphers to see how good you modern Hunters have got it.

Pre-15th Century

Let’s say you’re out wandering around the Black Forest and you need to figure out what the hell that furry thing was that just vomited a swarm of bloodsucking butterflies at you. Time to head to your not-so local library and start reading. And reading. And reading. If you’re lucky, it might only take a few hours to find the info you need, but the weirder the monster, the smaller the chance you’re gonna actually find a book about it. Sure, there are other options available. You can always go the mystical route; consult the local oracle or conjure up a genius loci. They might know how to find and kill this fuzzy bug-barfer, but you’re putting your life in the hands of otherworldly powers that don’t necessarily have your best interests at heart. No thank you. Instead you’ll have to scour the region for universities and private collections and weird occult bookshops. Maybe it takes weeks. Maybe months. Maybe you never figure it out at all, and that monarch-spewing monstrosity just gets to live out the remainder of its creeptastic life. If only someone kept all this $#&@ in one place...

And of course there will be SIX playable Chapters of Demon Hunters pregenerated for your gaming pleasure.

Adventure PDF

We have 5 missions that we're creating, complete with sample DMCs. Each mission will have a Mad Libs style element where you could randomize things and make the mission totally new each time you play it. These missions will be:

  • Burnout!: Investigation of a weird phenomena (SHC!) which leads to a reveal of a much more sinister plot unfolding.
  • The Haunted Theatre: Investigate a ghostly tragedy, and hopefully not become one yourself!
  • Chaos in Hell Week: Students are studying for their finals at the local university... or are they playing video games... TO THEIR DEATH!
  • Escort Duty, Pirates Attack!: What could go wrong when your team is assigned to escort something or someone very important?! Might be that M.O.N.S.T.R.E. has an interest in your cargo.
  • The More You Gnome: Madness ensues when ordinary garden gnomes animate and start killing the residents of a local asylum with gardening tools.

Backer Videos

Both of the categories that created videos that backers contributed to have been factored into a new series we are developing for our YouTube Channel. It's called Demon Hunters: S.O.L. and will be short bits that illustrate what life is like in the world of Demon Hunters. Those of you who contributed to those videos will be receiving the scripts shortly for what we have planned. We hope to shoot a few of these in the next few months.

In Case You Missed It!

We've also been busy with developing the screenplay for this:

And let's also not forget that we are CURRENTLY IN PRODUCTION of...

BackerKit Store Re-Opened!
about 8 years ago – Sat, Apr 02, 2016 at 06:11:34 PM

After a complete inventory, and a couple new items added, the Backerkit Store is open again.

Click here to order more Demon Hunters stuff

Shipping Charges:

WE DO NOT CHARGE YOUR CARD AT CHECKOUT. I've had to employ an estimated way to add the right shipping amount, and it MAY result in too much in shipping charges. Not to worry. I am reviewing EVERY order as they come in. If there's an overcharge, I will credit an appropriate amount before I charge your card.

Inventory Levels:

I have a small supply of books right now. I can get more if there's demand. So if you find that the books have disappeared, just know I'm in the process of getting more and they'll show back up when I have them.

Lemons Shirts: I will not be reordering these, and the sizes I have are all that I have. Once they're gone, they're gone.

I will likely ship out once a week or so, depending on the orders. Thanks for all your continued support!

Second Wave Shipped!
about 8 years ago – Mon, Mar 21, 2016 at 10:25:29 PM

Only 109 packages left to ship!

I expect more packing material by Thursday or Friday so I should be able to finish the remainder packages by the end of this weekend.

I will also be mailing out the art prints that are done this week. If you have a comic page, a comic panel, or a Brotherhood Agent, those pieces are still being created by the artists. All of the rest I should be able to get out though.

Thank you so much for your patience. THE END IS NIGH!

We need reviews!

The initial feedback we're getting is that people are very impressed with the quality of the book. We're very proud and excited about that. To help spread the word, we need more reviews at:

Additionally, talk about us on your blog, or promote us in the forums you frequent. You are our best marketing machine and we feel word of mouth is the best press. That's how we got where we are today.

Game Geeks RPG has already given us a SUPER stellar review. Big thanks to Kurt Wiegel for his time reviewing the game. You can check it out here:

Post your pics!

When you get your book, post a photo of your new book to show your support. Feel free to tag us, or toss in www.demonhuntersrpg.com to help promote!

Thanks everyone for helping us make such an amazing game!!!

They're HEEEEEEEERRREEEE!!!!!
about 8 years ago – Wed, Mar 09, 2016 at 10:13:30 PM

I just received a pallet of these boxes. Guess what I'm doing the next few days! I couldn't be happier with these. They are gorgeous! Here's some more book porn:

 The interior is amazing quality.

Thank you all for making this happen!!!

Alrighty then. I will get started on assembling packages this weekend, and probably start shipping out Monday. Here's how that will go:

  • I will start with the simplest packages first. They are the most numerous.
  • The most custom packages will be shipped last.
  • If you have art prints, if I have them I'll ship them. If I don't have them yet, (because some are still being created), I'll ship those separately. No you don't have to pay extra for that.

I have disabled the Preorder store at this time. Paizo has a lot more of these books than I do in their warehouse and they are set to sell into distribution. So tell your local shop to order a couple! They can get them now.
